The impact of number 1 is stunning...Really nice shot. Number 3 is great too but the DOF falloff near the edge of the petals is bugging me.
Background in #2 doesn't really work IMO :shrug: Cool shot otherwise.
Others are nice too.
Thanks Ewan, just thought would try white background although I don't like white very difficult to get right especially with flowers, always having difficulty with DOF, as I read somewhere, to maximise the depth -of -field available for any given f/stop you need to carefully position your camera so its sensor plane is parrallel with the subject if not you risk the subject drifting out of focus I think this more for insects.

Don't say that! You're way better than me. I guess there's just always room for improvement. As long as the flower wasn't blowing around you could have used a higher f-stop to get more of the flower in focus. Trouble is if you do that you'll have a lower shutter speed. Just experiment I guess. It's still a great shot :D
