Took a short ferry ride to the mainland from Lochranza (on Arran) to Claonaig and drove up to Oban for another ferry to Mull.

There was a good view of a surprisingly hot and sunny Oban and its hilltop folly from the ferry

Having left the little pocket of sunshine that was Oban, everywhere else was a bit dull and damp looking.

Came across 3 decaying boats on the drive to Tobermory. Light was awful but you have to try.

Looked a bit better coloured before I uploaded it. Washed out now I'm previewing it. Oh well may have another try tomorrow.

Standard shot of Tobermory. I remember seeing a far better one posted (Garnock? ). we stayed in the red one nearest the left. Not great!

Some more dull light affected scenery.

Came across this luminous green puddle and stopped in a passing place on the single track road. Nothing passed while I tried and failed to get a picture showing just how bright it was... the roads were really quiet.

You know taking pictures that show 'how it is/was' is not a 'bad' thing IMHO..
The constant striving to balance the exposure to stop the dreaded 'blown' sky is becoming a little irritating to me.
I would say that this group of shots are far more reflective of your trip than any filtered/layered/coloured/hrp thingy that seem to be the style at the moment. A touch of burning if the detail is there - if not - the picture will still show how it looked sometimes just as 'dramatically'.

To me what you call poor light is 'real light' for the area and time. You have taken a lovely set here. Very well done.

Can't remember the exact letters, but you know what I mean (hrp) :cuckoo:

Some great shots there. You might not want to hang em on your wall, unless your name is Morrisey, but they are nonetheless good.

I like 3,4 (shame about the tree felling in 3).
and ... that's not Tobermory its BALLAMORY any 5 year old knows that!

Overheard a conversation on the ferry about that.

They have to get planning permission to clear fell an area as the scar it leaves is so ugly. Oh and the trees round the edge of a felled area always fall over as they are shallow rooted and fall without neighbours to hold them up!

Great pictures, i hope you enjoyed your time on mull.

Planning permission here is granted in a strange way but i wont go to far into that. I think it was when forestry commisson was blasting a hole in the rock in that very clearing they managed to send rock flying in all directions which cut the power supply to some parts of Salen.

It looks like a nice place. I like 7, the way the cloud is consuming the hills! as a view anyway?

Place looks lovely, I so jealous. Enjoyed those, wonderful set Robert....That’s one heck of a hill folly? ...looks more like an amphitheatre.

I don't see anything washed out about the second boat shot btw. ...my fave by far that one. Love it. :)

We lost the guide book half way through the week but from what I remember it was built as a means of providing employment when times were hard. Then the local economy improved and they just left it!
