Not sure whether this in the right place??
First attempt at this sort of photography, C&C very welcome. Not really sure where to focus when shooting this sort of thing? This is probably a bit soft due to absence of tripod!!!;)

I like it, very contrasty!
What would bring it out, is a nice multiple black / white border.
Cheers,
James
Lovely 'oldstyle' photograph.
If it helps next time try treating the subject like a landscape.
Choose a 'f' to give you the DOF and then focus about a 1/4 of the way into the scene.
Usually works for me:)
A good un!
It is a bit soft and its also a bit too contrasty for me. Its nicely composed though. If you could tone down the contrast it maybe better.

thanks for the comments guys;) I'll remember the tripod next time!:) although I do feel a bit of a wally with a tripod (it makes you look as though you know what you're doing - when really I don't!!!!:D )

tsk, tsk. Get yer tripod out! If the rest of us are going to look like lemons you have no excuse ;)
Focussing on the 1st porch would have done the trick. Some USM on the brickwork of the cottages may retrieve some detail........ :)
