Hi vambo ...
I will look at your shots later when I get a bit more time ..... Then I can really rip into them .... :D
Thats what i want mate.:)
i will pick one..
Murrisk Moored Boat.
Very good shot, the boat is almost on the third line, its facing into the frame, so your drawn to it, then your eye goes across the frame. The reflection is lovely. The smaller thing in the water, front and center, its distracting, which i think detracts from an otherwise excellent shot, if you can clone it out it would help lots.
Did you use a poloriser on the shot? perhaps some tweaking will bring out a bit more vibrancy
Thanks Matty points taken ....i used nowt i shoot em as they come.
But these photo's aroused zero interest and i cant understand why cause i like em especially the stillness.
OK - I'll do 'Stillness' :)
Technically fine. It doesn't work for me because of the largely empty area in the mid distance where there are no clouds reflected. Those foreground reflections add initial interest and carry your eye to that empty mid distance and on to the horizon by which time you're out of the frame with the horizon IMO being too close to the top of the frame.
It's not a bad shot at all, just a bit lacking compositionally and crying out for a focal point? Buy hey.. it's only my opinion. :)
Just a tip - if you're after serious critique try posting just one or two pics then people wont feel quite so overwhelmed and be more inclined to give you some valuable feedback. ;)
CT thanks mate.
Well posting on here when i read about it to be honest got a bit confusing.
As regards my photo.i will tell the truth.i looked up and saw this and it reminded me of a sunset done on another forum once which was fantastic.
Just out of frame on the right hand side is a concrete pier/jetty and when i got back home i had no intentions of using it but it was the blue of the sea which got me and i absolutely love it....but no one else does apparently............never mind:|
LOL. I'm sure you're recalling a fantastic scene - the atmosphere-the whole thing of 'being there' it just doesn't come across that way in your shot and that's a common problem for all of us.
The other three shots are all far better than that one IMO. :)
We don't have a limit on the number of pics posted for critique in any one go. It used to be limited to just one pic, but we relaxed the rule with the proviso to just keep the numbers reasonable. In all honesty though people will spend more time giving you honest, considered critique if you keep it to just one or two pics and it isn't such a daunting task to do the job justice. ;)

No i didnt mean that i meant after looking at thousands of little crabs for about 15 minutes i didnt realise the sea was so calm and blue, and all the time i have lived here never noticed the small islands on the horizon...probably because the sea is so rough.
I wasnt going to use the photo because as you say no focal point and composition all wrong, but it was maybe that fact and the blue of the sea in an exceptional situation.
Perhaps your right i should scrub it.
No don't scrub it. There's more to togging than taking exhibition shots - it will always evoke memories for you. ;)
I think Stillness works much better upside down, try it and see.
/edit that's with a 180deg rotation, not a vertical flip.
You know he is actually right.
Tell me what posessed you to think of that??? was you drunk??? or was i drunk from the night before when i took the photo???;)
Hey, I love your photos, don,t clone anything out because that is what what was there and that is what attracted you. I sometimes feel that there is too much PP and editing going on. Your photographs are great as they are.
