Not Had Enough Hoverflies? Here's Some More...

Had a a short drive to a place not far from me called White Coppice, had a stroll and took some pics. Thistles, foxgloves and all the hoverflies you can shake a stick at....

...took my tripod, but didnt actually use it, as it was too windy and thought i'd be better off just trying my luck handheld...

all with 18-55mm kit lens...think i might have to sell a kidney for that 150mm sigma!

Very good indeed :) Was this using any close-up filters or was it just the lens?

Top drawer stuff - pin-sharp focus, particularly on 2 & 3. Nice one.

thanks mate. 2,3 and 4 were taken with a closeup filter attached (i think). I didnt have it on all the time. Like i said on my first post, it was pretty windy so i gave up using the tripod, but then i came across a field that was quite sheltered and set the tripod up, put the filter on and focused on the thistle, kind of had to wait for the hovers to walk into focus before i took them!
