Hi All

Needing a quick purchased tripod last weekend I purchased a STAR 61 model from a local Curry's store.

Please excuse the somewhat ignorant post here.

It has a quick release mechanism, however the movable pin that you can push in with your finger doesn't seem to fit into the relevant recess in the e400 camera base. The distance between the screw mount and the hole on the e400 is greater than that on the quick release mount on the tripod.

Did I buy the wrong model tripod? Am I using this correctly...?

I am happy to post quick pics if you need more info. Thanks.

John

Just take the pin out completely ... ... it's not necessary ... ;)

If it has a quick release, there should be a lever to one side that will allow a whole section of the head to be released, this will attach to the camera or lens, and then will clip on and off, hence quick release. Plus if the pin comes out whip it out :)

The springy pin is usually for video cameras :) Just put the camera on the tripod so it pushes the pin in, and dont worry about it.

OK, great advice folks thanks. The thing is... there is a hole on the bottom of my e400 that looks as though it was intended for such a pin. I am more than happy to remove the pin from the quick release mechanism, but should it not fit?

The pin isn't needed......throw it :)

The pin is for video cameras to prevent the camera from twisting on the plate during panning.
