Went to the Shuttleworth Collection's Evening Flying Display a couple of weeks ago. Although it was quite gusty to start with, the end of the evening was very still and they decided to fly the "Edwardians". Night was falling (the last ones in were pretty much night landings) but the sunset and the planes gave a great experience.

All pictures with EOS 1D Mk II and either 70-200 f/2.8L or 500 f/4L.

3. Struts at sunset - I'd like to have been a touch wider but the 500 doesn't zoom!

4. Decided to have a play at taking a magazine covershot style piccie

5. Landing - This is 1/40 sec on 500mm

Hopefully going back to the August display, but it's the same weekend as the bird fair, so we'll have to see.

Great Shots. Having photographed them I know how tricky it is to getthe camera to actually focus on those spindly bits of wood and cable, so congratulate anyone that comes away with those kind of pictures from dusk :clap:

Now then, Bird Fair? Something we should know about?:D

Thanks. It was certainly a fun day out.

The Bird Fair is off topic for here but is one of the biggest events for bird watchers - it's held at Rutland Water. http://www.birdfair.org.uk/
