POTY 2007 - Round 8 - Living Creatures

Welcome to Round 8 of the TP : Photographer of the Year 2007.

Please use this thread to discuss the competition, and specifically the current round, and your interpretation of it. Also feel free to discuss ideas and thoughts etc. :) While there is an anonymous nature to the submissions and voting, there's no need to be secretive about ideas and the like. While we'd all like to win :D...the competition is for all of us to help improve our photography :)

The theme this month is "Living Creatures". Decide what the theme means to you, and portray it in a shot (Or take a shot and shoehorn it into the theme :D)

The cut off for submissions to be received is 23:59 on the 31st August 2007

The winner of this round will receive an a4 or a3 sized print of their winning shot.

Please email your correctly sized entries, with your forum username in the subject or body of the email, to competition@talkphotography.co.uk
All entrants will get an email back confirming their entry. So if its nearing the end of the month, and you havent had a reply, use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the forum to check.

Have fun shooting, and remember, it's all aimed at getting us thinking about our photography more, and hopefully improving our skills, but more importantly, it's about having fun doing what we enjoy doing, and thats taking and sharing pictures.

So get your thinking caps on ladies and gentlemen, and go take lots of lovely photos!

:lol::lol: I did that the other day with a dragonfly, it had landed on the drive, I did think it was a strange place to land but anyway I rushed indoors and grabbed the camera only to find it was on it's last legs!!!!! The pictures were rubbish so they won't be entering :D

Here at Fawlty Towers, as soon as reveal to the family the new theme, I get a month of 'hey, look, that would do for the competition' .....and I jst had a thought, last months back up pic will do for this months back up too :eek::lol:

Well my son, who is 19 & has the sort of enquiring mind of 10 year old Gerald Durrell, just yesterday came home with something that could turn out rather handy for this.

But, having said that, I have spent the last few hours thumb twiddling....ummmm-ing a bit....ahhhh-ing a lot....and decided to leave it as it is :bonk: Sods law says if I send something else, the original will be the one that did well! IYKWIM!

Rightie ho, I've replied to every single entry I've received, so if you havent received an email within about an hour.....PM me :)

I've also had to resize a few entries (2 for being over the 800 pix and 4 for being over file size). I don't mind, just that if you find yours has been resized.....it was either that or reject it :) (and we're not mean enough to be disqualifying people for simple things like that). All resizing is done in CS3, either via Image Size > 800px (Bicubic), or Save for web, optimize to file size > 160k.

I've also replied to one entrant who left his name on the image as a tag, and I'm still waiting on a reply, as that's the only one I can't enter so far :)
