View Full Version : Ferry across the Mersey

The other day I realised I haven’t taken a really nice image of the iconic Mersey Ferry. We had some lovely weather the other day so off I popped. I used a polarizer for this and it really brought out the blues. Personally I think Liverpool looks great here. The Mersey looks blue, the Ferry looks great and the skyline is fantastic.

yep, works for me, although I'd like just a smidgen more space on the right for it to drive into.
Also the slight vignetting works to the images advantage.
Thanks :) Yeah I see what you mean about the right side. Doh :D Got plenty of others from that night so I may pop another up tomorrow.

I was looking at the landscape from the top of birkenhead priory and you've captured the elements I was looking at...the blend of the old buildings with the new on the left! I'm really not sure about that one next to the Liver building, it just doesnt look architecturally safe

Nice pic dude.
The song ferry across the Mersey always sounds like Fairy across the Mersey when the dude sung It.
Looking at the above and your web-site, I must say Pete, you certainly make Liverpool look like a wonderful place to be/go
Unfortunately I've only had the pleasure of brief visit there when catching the ferry to the Isle of Man, but next time i'm there I'll be taking my camera, i'm sure.

Very nice pic, would work just as well without the ferry, lol
I think I can just make out my mrs on the seacat in the background!
Lee, when were you here ?
 I like it mostly, but agree with needing a tad more to the right, but also, did you get any standing on tiptoes Pete? I would like to have seen just a smidge of river between the top of the ferry's funnel and the bank/buildings beyond so they don't looked...well, 'joined' if you get my drift.
Totally. It was low tide too. I felt that it should be more seperate but thats the best I could do without buying a ticket and going down to the terminal.

It was a while back, but I was there on Rugby Tour easter 2001 played in a local tournament and at another club whose pitch is near the see front. The name escapes me but I think it was Ramsey.
Sorry to hi jack your thread Pete.
nice shot I really like it, just noticed after all these years, why isn't there any tall buildings to the right of the liver buildings?

At a guess, because they'd block the view of the cathedral. Maybe.

Composition is a bit "central" for me..... could do with demolishing that crane to the right as well!
Captured it well.... but not quite the ultimate quality you're capable of! :(
Looks great, though i would clone out the crane on the right hand side :D
