ok after a lot of research I've decided the 1D mkII is the new camera for me (not the 1Ds mkII because thats too expensive right now & the 1D mkII n is not accepted by getty images) does anyone else have it or have used it? do you like it? I need to find the pennies then shall order it, can't wait!!!
You'll struggle to find a new 1D MkII, if that's what you're looking for. They've been discontinued for well over a year now. Why don't Getty accept the MkIIN, it's basically the same camera with a bigger LCD?
Great cam though, my workhorse :)

Just meant it'd be my new camera, the camera will be used/refurbished, a camera store I know has 1 I'm just hoping I can find the pennies before it sells. Don't know why they won't accept the mkIIn but its not on their list and they won't accept images that don't come from the camera's they specify. Not that my work is in the league of anything they'll accept but as its an investment I thought at least the opportunity to try at some point would be nice! I can't wait to get it. I will have the money next month but I want it yesterday :bonk:
I have a 1D II and a 5D, the images from the 5D are far superior to the 1 but I still prefer shooting with the 1 by miles and miles.
The controls on a 1 series are all totally different to all the other canon cameras, so if you're comming from another canon you might take a while to get used to it. Once you do though, I'd be pretty sure you'll love working with it as much everyone I know who has one.

I have 2. I had a 5D but sold it to buy a second 1D Mk II
I've work along side two getty photographers one I know for a fact had a 1d mk11n. That person was a staff member using a company pooled camera. In other words, thats what getty sent them out with.
However there are few differences I understand in the image quality, and the 1d mk11 is cheaper than the n model.

I'm lucky enough to have a 1D mkII, it's an awesome camera, the only negative thing I can say about it, but it's one you'll quickly get used to is the weight, it's a heavy lump, but I feel the weight adds to the handling abilities of it.

My thoughts entirely.
Going from one of XXD or XXXD cameras to a one series you really do know that you're using a professional tool rather than a fancy wee gadget. People complain about the interface being different to the other Canon bodies and being difficult to use and I can accept that to a certain degree, then you realise how easy it is to knock a button and set the wrong thing on the semi-pro bodies and realise why the 1 series is different.
Would I go back to the small body, light weight etc of a 30D or a 5D? Not on your life.
 hmm... lol what to do.
I've just ordered a 1Dn MkII from Kerso... worth asking him for a price... even compared to a second hand price, I think you'll be surprised...

Oh, also worth adding that, if you are camping, a 1D is great for bashing in tent pegs...

I find the 500 or 600mm lens works better as you can get more leverage on it when you swing it.

Not sure if your still interested re cameras accepted by getty. I've just had some images (editorial) accepted taken on a canon 20D.
