View Full Version : Eviction Order for Queen's Pier Protesters

On 30 July, 2007, Hong Kong government has issued an viction order on Queen's Pier activists who have camped at the pier for three months to leave the structure by 31 July, 2007 midnight . Lands Department officials put up notices around the pier telling the protesters that their occupation of the pier was unauthorised. They also warned the activists that they could be prosecuted if they didn't obey.

Why are they protesting? Is the pier to be demolished or something?

Hong Kong Queen's Pier, the traditional landing point for visiting dignitaries including Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana, has been occupied since April, 2007 by activists trying to stop it being destroyed for a new bypass under the terms of the Central Reclamation Phase III works contract.
