took a shot at night when an explosion happened and the effect came out weird, overwhelmed my camera:(. But came to think, how does one capture explosions at night properly and get everyone exposed??...

wow, great shot blinkerz. Great shadows. Sorry don't have any tips. I would of thought getting both the explosion and people exposed correctly in 1 pic would be nearly impossible. Really like the effect on your pic though.

Actually, i wouldnt worry about all the exposure elements, the burning out of the explosion makes for a really dramatic picture, it almost looks atomic.
Nice capture.

I really quite like the effect. I would maybe play around with the colour temp a bit though. But as RobertP said... Explosion?!?! Go on...

That is truly inspired Dino

Wouldn't that HDR thing help on this one?

Although I think that looks just fine as it is tbh.

There would probably be too much range for it to work properly. The only other thing I can think of is maybe take two pictures (one during and one just after the explosion) and merging them. You would need to be set up with a tripod I suppose though.

I suppose it depends, did you shoot RAW? And how "on the nail" did you get the exposure for the majority of the scene?

I must admit I actually love it the way it is. If there was a fave buttons on the forums, I'd be hitting it right now.

Come on, tell us!!

Great effect btw, I like it, but I wanna know about the explosion!

I am similarly intriqued as to the explosion it. I think the shot is great and my only niggle (and it is a small one) is that the couple in the centre are looking up to the left away from the heart of the flash.
Good work!
