Im only a crass begginer, but i took these today. Nothing special but its a start i guess.......(thanks to MK for the advice)

That soldier beetle ain't bad at all! Both of them seem to be a bit overexposed - maybe try lowering the EV next time.

What kit were you using for this...camera, lens, tubes, flash etc....

300D and a sigma 150 mm....not got a flash unit yet, but will do soon when i find out what im doing....lol..
A great start but agree with Ewan slightly overexposed, but that is easily rectified! look forward to seeing more.
They do look a little overexposed. If you took the shots in RAW then you could use a little negative exposure compensation to try and regain those lost high-lights.
If not, a smaller aperture will give you both better depth field and a faster shutter speed, all vital in macro-tography!
