This was a holiday day with a bit of a difference. To give you some background Jan is hoping to start an equine breeding programme and young horse livery to produce sports horses, this will obviously not happen overnight as need to find some land, brood mares etc.

A few weeks ago, through some contacts, we ended up rescuing a Cremello Warmblood year old youngster from Eastern Hungary near the Ukrainian border (don't ask, it's a long story!) and she was transported via Germany to a temporary home in Devon. Cremellos are an unusual looking horse in that they are white with blue eyes and are used (with the right stallion) to breed Palominos and Dunns. This day out was to be our first time seeing her, we had seen photos of her in a pretty sorry state although we were not prepared for how badly she had obviously been treated, we were going to spend just a couple of hours there but we ended up working with her for most of the day and Jan went back later in the week to treat her further.

Marci actually photographs quite well and looks a lot worse in the flesh as she is suffering from rain scald and numerous other ailments which a bit of TLC will take care of, she is also very nervous due to how she has been treated. She should be coming to us at the beginning of September and in a few months she should look a lot better.

Allow me to introduce Marci.....

The boys getting a lift back down, it was a long way up carrying the gear and the return trek was just a bad, by the time I got to the bottom my already knackered knees were killing me!

That horse is like a walking statue! Most unusual.

Good luck with the plans. hope it stays enjoyable when it becomes a business.

Nothing to do with me Robert! She's on her own for this one, as I keep telling her they are only good for two things - dog food and glue.

that last one's a really good shot :) Lovely animal too.

Just wondering, do you also get kicked for saying things like that? ;)

That's will be a lovely looking horse when Jan's finished with her Colin (don't forget we've seen some of her magic before ... :D) ... almost albino except for the blue eyes and they are stunning ... ... I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone can mistreat animals that depend on humans so much ... :suspect:

Good luck to you and Jan on the equine project ... I'm sure you'll kup ... ;)

This one really brought a tear to my eye, what a sad looking creature she is.

And, as photographic subject matter, an earner Colin.

Good luck to your good lady with her venture.
