Vision Graphix will provide a print of the winning image for the winner each month
This year, the themes are designed to make you think, to encourage the imagination.

The deadline for entries is the 11:59pm on the last day of the month, shortly after that a POLL will be made for you to vote for you favourite entries that month. This process will then repeat each month with a leader board being published after each round. The winner of each month will receive a prize, currently a free print from Vision Graphix. The member with the most votes at the end of the year will win the coveted TP POTY Trophy.

Haven't done much in the way of photographing my little boy lately, but after a really interesting few days at Focus 2011 seeing how other work (and learning loads), I felt inspired to try a bit of one light strobism.

Mind you, I forgot how fast kids are when they're full of beans - they just move at lightning quick pace and when you're staring through the viewfinder, it's so much more frustrating than my day job, which is shooting anglers in-situ.

This took ages to nail the right pose, with bribes of food, clicks of fingers and stuff hung from the softbox to grab his attention. In the end I just put one of his toys behind the softbox and that did the trick. That's better, be still.... click-click-click!!

Anyway, lighting was a 12x12" softbox with SB800 set to 1/16th power, clamped to the mantlepiece about 18-inches from Charlie's face.

Bit of PS work to clean up his skin and kick back some background elements to pure black.

Be Still

Lake Vyrnwy, Nr Bala, Wales. We took a 10 mile, single track road that ran along the side of a beautiful valley then through a pine forest. This is the scene that revealed itself to us. There was no noise other than rushing water and wildlife. It truly felt like the most remote place in Britain, an astonishing oasis on an increasingly overcrowded island. Breathtaking :)
