I was in Salford Quays tonight and saw that there are road closures tomorrow (Saturday) for the Night of Neon. Now I had no idea what this is so a quick interweb search and hey presto.
The banks of Salford Quays will play host to a very special sight when fundraisers from across the region don glowing neon clothing and make their way around a course as part of the first ever Christie's Night of Neon.
Set to take place on 11 August, the event will feature a Neon Night Jog and Walk in aid of Christie's, the charity which raises funds for the Christie Hospital in Manchester, one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe. The event is sponsored by Manchester law firm Halliwells.
The first of the two main events on the night will be the Neon Night Jog. This will take participants on a 5km tree-lined course through the striking Salford Quays. All joggers will warm up beforehand with experts from the Nike Shox fitness team.
The Neon Night Jog will be followed by the Neon Night Walk - the jewel in the crown of the Christie's Night of Neon. The Neon Night Walk is a 10km route through the Quays and surrounding areas, passing amongst others the Manchester United stadium and the Imperial War museum.
