Hi Guys,

This is definitely one of my weakest areas so just looking from some CC on this photo I took the other day and any advice in general on floral photography :)

Stands out well against that dark background. leaving some space in the picture is a good idea but might have been better with space at the top and a bit less to the side. Main thing letting this down is it needs sharpening. I just tried an edit and it sharpened up well.

Oops, Thought I had that ticked :embarrassed: changed now, thanks for the comments, for some reason I always forget about allowing breathing room at top and bottom and just concentrate on not putting the main subject dead centre in the middle.... noted for future reference thanks :)

Would love to see your altered version :)

Hopefully taking into account the wise advice above, here is another shot from the same day, slightly more space top and bottom and I have tried to sharpen a bit.... Look forward to any comments :)

The second one is much better Fearless  I think if you had positioned yourself a little higher over the bloom it would have been spot on ;) You seem to have caught the colours wonderfully though!

I don't need to post an edit of the first one as you have shown what sharpening will do in the second one :)

Plenty of people here that know a lot more about flower shots than I do! I just consider it from the point of which way is the thing facing and hence giving it some space to 'look' into. Hence first one positioned lower left of frame and second one as is left to right but maybe a bit lower with more space above than below. All subjective - not right or wrong :)

Thanks for the comments and advice guys, who says you are a set of brutal monsters :p

Seriously though, tis much appreciated, I enjoy taking flower shots more than I expected and plan to take a lot more so I'm sure your advice will point me on the right path :)
