Seeing Vens bird pics form this morning reminded me of some I took last week I wanted to share with the photgraphic twitchers here.
Whilst at Jervaulx Abbey, we settled down on the picnic blanket to watch a young robin, but we spotted what I think is a dunnock that kept apparently flying into the wall. Further investigation revealed it was actually 2, mum and dad, and they were working very hard to feed their young. So out came the 70-300 and these are the results. I also borrowed my friends 50mm macro and was having a play with bees and things when I realised both parents were out of site so managed to sneak a quick shot of the nest too, its not brilliant, wrong lens really, but I really didnt want to disturb them too much so just grabbed the opportunity.
Anyway, these are the shots with the long lens, quite tricky, as the nest was in almost darkness whilst the wall surrounding it was in mid day sun and they are heaviley cropped. Perhaps the better informed can confirm if they are dunnocks or something else?
