He's ok for camera body, has far too expensive taste in lenses, (I could borrow one and then give it back to him gift wrapped! :D) any cheap accessories?

Well two ideas I have for my other half [might even let him take the D70s with him] are either a balloon flight voucher, or a passenger flight in one of those bi-planes.

I bought my other half a flying lesson for christmas a few years back, & she thoroughly enjoyed it, he even let her fly over the severn bridge & then over our house!!:woot:

Not sure if I would like that though, because wearing one of those headsets would mess my hair up!!

Hmmm! for me personally ... a day in the studio being the pita ... I mean the assistant, to a top photographer.

Failing that, a lighting course ... probably a 1-1 where I wouldnt have to feel embarrassed infront of other people trying to work my way around the Dyscalulia while working out the settings :embarrassed:

But Im sure Joe would be happy with whatever you choose for him LB, especially if its accompanied by a drop of fine wine and a bit of Agent Provocateur ;)

I don't know the chap (well nor you for that matter), but since you're both into photography, why not go on a trip together in the mountains with accommodation near a nice lake (even a small one).
You should be able to get some nice golden hour shots there and then go and have nice a dinner :)

how's about a weekend away somewhere with loads of photo opportunities, there are plenty in the Uk so it wouldn't have to break the bank,

Have a look at here:
http://www.my-volito.com/volito/intro.asp?lang=en

It's one of the cheapest tablets from Wacom, but it should be nice for starters :)
In short, you use it instead of a mouse to do your selections, painting and drawing like you'd do with a real pen/pencil.
