View Full Version : Snowdonia Reflection
Taken earlier this year...

I know the sky is overexposed to the right, but does anyone have any other constructive comments?
Taken with P&S Cannon Powershot A710. DSLR purchase underway!
I can see what you were trying to do with the reflection and symmetry to the horizontal but I think it just looks confusing. Could do with more foreground water so that the middle of the reflection line is a third from the top of the picture. A slight tweak to the levels will get you more detail in the bushes too.
Well spotted shot. looks peaceful.
Thanks! I re-cropped the image to make it less symmetrical and it looks much better...

i think what it needs is a focal point like a mountain peak, tree or rock, etc

To be honest the weather at the moment makes landscape shots very difficult, regardless of camera !!
Looking at the Exif a smaller aperture F8 (ish) might have provided a little more detail in the mountain range, although with the strong lighting it may not have either
The shot can be improved slightly with the use of some contrast enhancement in USM in PS ... try something like:
amount 45
radius 100
threshold 0
Composition wise I agree that focusing on a particular feature could have strengthened the shot
Nice scene still though considering the conditions

Decent enough shot you were simply there at the wrong time of the day. The sun has come up and is reflecting (refracting?) though the solids in the atmposphere (haze) in a fairly unattractive way. Do what you did at a more suitable time!
Composition looks great to me, agree a levels tweak would improve it. Main thing though is it's saved at 48kb - which is pretty low so the quality of the picture is gonna degrade. You can save it up to 160kb if you're uploading it to the TP Gallery - or above that if you're using a different host :)
Main thing which detracts for me are the jet trails. Should be easy enough to clone out though :)
I can see where you were going with this shot, but it doesn't quite work. As HuN has said it may just have been the wrong time of day.
I think you have nailed the location, the shot looks a bit square on for my liking.
