The big ones on your Flickr are stunning
You can post up to 800px on the longest side, some of our members are a bit lazy.:naughty:

Lovely shots :) and somewhere I really want to visit one day!

To me the first one looks like it is sloping to the right slightly, but I think that might just be me, but I love the detail in it :)

Second one, I really like. Just the right amount of HDR for me and you have captured a really nice sky and sea.

Great shots :) and welcome to the forums

The Giants Causeway one doesn't work for me. Somehow the people are too random and break the balance. Perhaps it's just not quite a people shot and there are too many of them for it to sit as a landscape shot for my taste. Also, it's a tad soft and when I look for the detail in the foreground all I see is a little lens distortion. One where I was quite excited by the thumbnail but closer inspection dissapointed.

Sorry.

But...... the coastal shot, I really like that one. The light and texture in there are so delicate compared to the ruggedness of the subject. Where as the people overpowered the other shot in my taste, the tiny figure looking out to sea here is brilliant. A little hidden gem of scale.

Then there is the processing, a really nice use of HDR with real looking colours and a great looking clouds. Oh speaking of the sky, the lack of any colour there provides a great balance to the streaks of vivid blue, which between them hold the green of the land in place so well.

1 out of 2 then, that would do me. ;)

Yeah I know, its 800px for most forums, the problem is flickr doesnt make an 800px image from larger images, so therefore I would have to upload an 800px image for my largest image to flickr so I can post it in forums, but I prefer to have larger images on my flickr account.

@All

Yeah, shame about the damn tourists, its like acne on the landscape, although it does make it slightly more interesting, althought I prefer #1, i'm getting this one enlarged and framed for my living room.

Thanks for the comments on the other photo too.

Both are cracking shots, but no2 wins by a mile, I'm across there in October this year hoping to get time to visit the north coast again, mmmmmmmmm Bushmills.

Lovely shots, both of them.

#1 - I really like the mono - it adds to the texture of the shot, and the clouds are great. The horizon does appear to slope off to the right somewhat, and as mentioned earlier, the people in the shot spoil it for me.

#2 is beautiful. the contrast between the ominous looking moody sky and the green of the land and sea work brilliantly.

I thought this one deserved a closer look so I've hosted it on my Photobucket just this once, hope you don't mind Davey. Not everyone clicks on linked photo's. :)

It really does but like another famous Irish export, it doesn't seem to have travelled well. Still well worth the several clickthroughs it takes to get the big image on flickr.

That one was only sharpened after resizing, I've changed it to the unsharpened edit. Better?

Sure no problem, although the scaling down has made it a little soft.

I feel sharpening is best done before scalling down using Smartsharpen, it seems to preserve more detail when used with bilinear followed by a little USM with a radius of 0.3 after scalling.
