first attempt at using lightroom but i didnt have much in the way of subjects because of a metering issue with my camera meaning i shot film for most of my (4day) summer holiday!
not sure on this, i think its a bit overcooked in postprocessing but it brings out the vibrant colour of the gardens flowers that morning! think it might be overly "warm though"
lightroom adjustment and Cs2 tone curve+resize

Yup, over-cooked. :) have another go, could be quite a nice image. I like gardens.:D
Looks more than a bit overcooked to me! Everything seems intense contrast and colours.
Nice idea but it seems too yellow and drooping off to the left a bit, just a slight use of the straightening tool may be in order.

Yeah it has been over cooked. In lightroom there is an option in the develop panel called 'Vibrance'. If you need to boost the intensity of the colours this will provide a much nicer look than upping the saturation. Personally I stay well clear of saturation.
Could also do with some highlight recovery, drag the exposure slider down a bit and then up the recovery and fill light. This should even the sky/ground out.
Be sure to show us the results!

Yeah, just a little heavy on the sliders :)
Worth downloading a few presets not to always use but by clicking on a preset and then undo you can get an idea of the "tolerance" range of the photograph and what colour/curve/sat might work best. Great program!
