This is the London Eye taken when I spent a week in london about 3 days after I got my camera.

Like the first one  - interesting textures all round. I can't decide whether the pole on the right balances the photo or is in the way  and I'd be tempted to clone out the boats on the horizon.

Your lens looks like it needs a thorough clean :D

They're nice - you're certainly on the right lines. There's a similar London Eye pic in my flickr stream. I think they both show some pretty good composition ideas. The border does nothing for the 1st one though.

the best thing for cleaning a lens,or filter is to blow some air on it with a rocket blower or canned air if you want to be posh that gets rid of dust/grit e.t.c .
if that gets rid of the muck then leave it at that.
if more thorough cleaning is needed then eclipse solution & pec pads do the job nicely.

Quite a good composition in the first one. Just a little bit chopped off the sky at the top and get them boats to come a bit closer and it would have been perfect :)
