Following on from djaphoto's great tree shot thread, here's a request to see some of your tucked away classics.

I'll start with one from Spain, not a classic but I quite like it anyway.

Ok, not exactly a lonely tree, but one of my favourite tree shots taken during the Dorset meet in Nov 06.

Here's another little one from an old film scan. He's not quite a lonely tree, as there is another in the frame. But he can't see it round the wall of the canyon so alone he stands. ;)

OK, taken especially for this thread [I was feeling left out], my lonely tree....the only one I could get near. It started off as a landscape format shot in RAW, but even then, I couldnt quite pull back the blown area of sky where the setting sun was, and the lower exposures lost too much detail in the land, so I decided to go for a crop. Handheld, my one and only lonely tree!

Lots of really really nice tree shots in here and I've enjoyed seeing every single one of them.

For the record though, a lonley tree shot is one tree in the frame and one tree only. Not so much as another twig allowed. :D

Quote For the record though, a lonley tree shot is one tree in the frame and one tree only. Not so much as another twig allowed.

Am I in breach of this 'rule' then (post 55) as you can see other trees in the background? I'd have thought lonely meant others were avoiding you too, which mine clearly are as they haven't rushed to give comfort & support to my tree which stands alone

On second thoughts... saying a tree is 'lonely' is personification, how are we to know that a tree stood alone is in fact lonely, rather than in fact having a great time all by itself? But then that's personification too! I guess we just have to assume it has no thoughts on the matter?:thinking::thinking:

Perhaps this should be another thread all by itself? But would that thread then be lonely too! :shake::shake::shake:

Yes you could. People who are surrounded by the most people are often the loneliest :D

I would have thought the same applies to trees.

Besides, the question is not one of whether its lonely, surely it's that if it truly IS lonely, then do the others hear it cry?

Let's get pedantic on the interpretation of 'lonely'.
Which I actually covered a long time back in this thread.

The OP has stated the meaning so shirley that's what counts.

anyway a tree is a much more substantial being than a pathetic huiman so is highly unlikely to suffer the hang-ups that people have, hence avoiding all the causes of loneliness apart from the one that is being alone !

Ratty
13-10-2007, 13:56
