From my front door to all of this.

It's quite easy to become blind to all the potential beauty that surrounds us. I pass these scenes about 10 times a week on average but hadn't thought about their potential until this morning, ravaged by drink I crawled out of bed and went for an early morning wander.

Sorry about the quantity, just let me know your faves and why etc.

Any constructive criticism is welcome as I think a couple of them just miss the mark a touch......

Tbh, the 1st shot doesnt do much for me Spencer .... but oooh the others

The first two in the 2nd set are really something else ... just beautiful!

Im planning an early morning start myself tomorrow ... Id be over the moon if I could come back with just one shot like any of those!

I think the first one just needs the tone levels tweaking and it would be a winner, all of the others I love just as they are. Excellent!

Love 4 and 5 especially. Shame about the trails/clouds on number 4.

Lovely reflection in number 1.

All nice shots with a few being that little bit more special than others.

Early morning has paid off!

Cheers 'glo. I know what you mean, the first is a bit flat by comparison. I just liked the perfect stillness of the water. Unfortunately I was at the other end of the field when the sun finally hit the bridge, busy getting up close & personal with the trees!

Have fun tommoz. Take a flask of coffee and make sure you leave early enough as it all happens very quickly and is over in about 30 minutes. Should be nice and misty again, especially if you can find a nice low-lying area near some water!

Agreed. It's a bit flat looking but that was how it was alas. I have tried to punch some contrast back into it, but I keep losing the shadow details.....maybe a b&w version is on the cards....

It usually does unless it's cloudy. It just hurts a bit to be up at that time with a hangover! I was going to clone those out but blatantly forgotten!

6 & 7 are the best imho!

Indeed, there aren't many of us about!

must say I agree with InaGlo to be honest. First shot doesn't really do it for me, but the rest are simply stunning. Exposures are spot on and subject matter is interesting and holds the eye. lovely stuff matey! :D

Very nice, number 3 in the 1st set is an incredible picture and I really like the effect you've caught with the mist in the others

I am another that is struggling with the first, I think maybe too symetrical, if you get my gist, maybe more sky or more water might have worked better for me personally

So thats the critism.....

Now I cant think of any appropriate superlatives for the others.....I can't believe you did those 5 minutes from home on an impending hangover! THey are.... ...... I WANT THEM ON MY WALL! :D

Mad 'tog in 5 a.m. start shocker

I am afraid nothing much could make me get out by 0500hrs ... ... even stunning shots like this ...

Number 1 I am sure could be sorted with a bit of tweaking and then it will join the rest imgo as a super image Gandhi ...

The contre-jour shots are simply fabulous ...

Well Spencer .... I did it ... after just 2 hours kip I went over to the local golf course (its in a big dip & often misty).
All I can say is that I have even more respect for your images now than I did last night .... and no Im not posting my efforts :embarrassed:
Id forgotten too, just how much morning mists wet you through, and how quick that lovely dew can travel all the way up your trousers!
Oh well maybe next time .... hmmm! what next time

the only thing I can criticise is "5 a.m." that is almost obscene!

Gee, thanks. The first is a bit bland and I think I've just been trying to rescue a dodgy shot really. I've tried and tried but I can't milk any more punch out of it without making it look worse to my eyes. Anybody else want a go?

Our 9 week old kitten in full early morning 'feed me or play with me, I'm bored so I'm going to attack you until you do what I want' mode is enough to get anyone out of bed! Especially when the only door in your house is the one on the bathroom!

I think the 2 hours sleep bit was optional 'glo. Not essential to making a good shot lol!

Get back out and have another go! Somebody made a pertinent point once about how few days for making photos we actually have, and when you take off the days when the weather is inclement then you have precious few opportunities to make this type of shot. WASTE NONE!

HOW many times have I come home, wet upto the knees, muddy as hell.... WHY do we do it? :cuckoo:

Cos it's fun! Mud washes off, clothes dry out and there is normaly a hot cuppa waiting when you get home. So a little bit of discomfort is tolerable!

Also, I always find that my shots are a million times better if there's been some suffering in their birth lol!

:D I've been playing with it a few times, got about 5 that are not bad. I've tried to enhance the light, probably looks like a different time of day now!

Not bad suze.......

What did you do?

Susane
27-08-2007, 16:43
Oh god! I knew you were going to say that.

Slight adjustment to the curves, more of an S shape.
Slight adjustment of saturation, upped it a bit.
Then the dodge tool on very low, diffused settings, used it like a paint brush, picking out area's to lighten and going over some places more than others. Oh and isolating an area of the sky and water to make it a more sunlight colour.
It's not really a photograph anymore, more an artistic impression of the scene but I enjoyed learning my PS skills with it.:)

Got to admit, when I saw the first photo I thought what a waste of time getting up early. Then I saw the rest, wow they are great.
Must also say, although not my favorite I prefer the 1st photo before susane altered it.
Although on a second look something between the two would be better. Great set a photos though, you must be quite chuffed with yourself.

6 and 7 would be my favourites.

Chuckling to myself all the way home was I!

G/f wasn't too chuffed with me then being asleep or just plain useless for the rest of the day though!

Thankyou to everybody who has taken the time to comment!

Well, I think you should get p*ssed more often and have more early mornings if this is what you come up with! I actually like #1 as it has a lovely calm/serene/tranquil feel to it. It doesn't compare to the rest in the series, but I still like it :)
