Well I think it's a grasshopper. No idea what the difference is between a grasshopper and a cricket is so as it's Green, its a grasshopper lol.

This little fella was sitting on the boot of my car with one of his chums after i'd driven down the motorway. When I got home I ran inside and grabbed a pot and gently got the pair of them to 'Hop' in. Got all my camera setup and did some test shots then got one of them to sit on a leaf on my garden bench, as soon as he hit the leave he legged it then jumped into the bush. Didn't even get a single shot lol.

His chum on the other hand was a different story, I got several shots of him sitting on the lid of the pot then he decided to clim onto a leave for me (he clearly knew i would get better shots there lol).

I really enjoyed doing these pics. Taken on my Nikon D50, Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Macro. Made slight tweaks to the raw file and cropped the first image.

C & C welcome.

Nice set of shots of a Cricket. :-) Crickets have longer antennae than grasshopper so short antenna it's a grasshopper :-)

Lovely Green Cricket Dal ... ... :agree: the focus is not quite as sharp as it could be especially in the second and third ... ... but the first is not too bad at all for a first insect shot ... ;)

:p

thanks guys.

now i know how to tell the difference.

will try and get the focus a bit more spot on next time. had to use a fairly large aperture as it was pretty dark so thats why the focusing was difficult.

cheers for the comments.
