View Full Version : Row row row your boat....
Nowhere, because its night time, god knows what trouble you will get into

Curves auto'd, cropped a bit, sharpened a bit. Taken on a tripod with next to no light and no flash. Sure, I could dodge some detail out of the trees etc, but that would be cheating and I wanted it to appear as it did at the time!
C&C very very welcome !!
Ta.
fair enough you want it to look dark and moody but the only problem is that the lighter areas with more detail draw your eye away from what, I presume is, the point of interest, the boats and pier. The light area of sand in the foreground is pretty featureless, so why not crop it off and see what happens?
I have tried cropping the foreground away, but it doesn't quite work somehow. I think maybe because the boat is currently near a cross-section to a third.
The darkness of the image and the 800 pixel limit here don't play well together either, making a dark image appear even darker.
Do you think it looks better bigger? The highlights and shadow seem to balance out a little better in the bigger image

Thats a 1280 sized image.
Let me know what you think. Thanks for the input!
Edit: There is a bit of saturation missing from how this was suppose to be also, made the boats and peer stand out a little better. Back to the drawing board! :D

Tried to bring a little more of the colour out of the boats as well as a little more light. Didn't want to lighten it too much though.
Better?
Thanks for looking.
Much.
Just gotta burn that bit of sky on the top right back in and it'll be a complete work ;)
(sagittarians are never satisfied btw. Just ask my poor g/f!)
Ill fire up PS when i get home and see if i can rescue that bit ;)
Thanks for the advice!
