I am taking my daughter to a night club in Bristol tonight, & will then pick her up at about 10.40pm.

So I thought I would stay in the centre & have a go at some night shots!:woot:

Can anyone offer any tips/pointers for night time photogrpahy?

I will be using my Canon 18-55 & 70-200 kit lenses, plus tripod, and a monopod.(For protection.:()

Thanks in advance

Spence

The first thing I can think of is if you camera has a mirror lock up function, it might be worth using that before taking each shot. I suppose it also depends on what kind of shot you want to take... A small aperture will increase exposure time dramatically of course, but allows straight away for a long depth of field. The reverse of this of course gives a short depth of field, but allows for less blurred shots (if the subject(s) is/are moving). Of course, if the subject is a building for example, it's completely up to you.

Sorry thats not much really, and tbh quite obvious... Didn't want to insult your intelligence! Do post up your results!

PS. 10:40 is a little early for a night club! ;) :D

I was getting worried for what was comming next there. Thought you might be about to commit a parents most unforgivable sin.:lol:

A night shoot around Bristol is something I've been saying I'll do for while now. Fancy some company?

I'm out of town today but the water front might give you some good shots, just watch out for all the chavs around the bit where the fountains are, mind you they normally only come out later so you should be ok...and if you can head up there, the bridge and its 'new' lights are always worth squeezing a few shots off for too...
