took delivery of a 30d this morning to compliment my Oly E510 (The Xynamic for the speedy delivery :D ).

Bouth the 30D as i wanted to go W-I-D-E and its very expensive on the 4/3rd's system (the Oly 7-14 is around £1075, compared to the 30D body and Sigma 10-20mm at a total of around £700)

Initial impression are good, the 30d is a bit bigger, but the build quality is fantastic (Dont get me wrong, the Oly is good, but the Canon is in a different league).

I quite like the two display method, with two control wheels.

Got a good deal on a Sigma 10-20 as well, so that is going on it for some testing shortly.

Overall, i'm impressed with the 30D, in a way that never happened when i tried the 400D a few months back, and if i carry on being impressed i may be forced to eat my own words and sell my E-510

No real point to the thread, just thought i'd share

I don't think you should be selling the E-510 - with some Zuikos, it'll probably be lighter than the Canon, which you would appreciate when you'd have to hand-hold it and maybe when you'll be out the whole day with a dslr.

True...

it'll be one of the 'suck-it-and-see' situations.

just need to get out there and take some pictures to justify the investment now :D

Don't forget to post them after that.

While I like my Olympus, I had the pleasure of playing with both a 5d and a 1dMkIII last week. I won't be buying any more lenses or equipment specific to this camera and intend to make the switch to Canon over the next year or so as I can afford it.

The crop factor is one reason, availability of cheap good quality lenses is another. I'll probably grab a 30d as the prices come down with the launch of its successor.

If it was my heart that made decisions, i would no doubt stay excluslively with Oly, but as the wallet gets a say then i need to look at the 'opposition'

But the two time crop on the Oly is good for the long end - horses for courses i suppose ;)

I'll stick my neck up and say you'll sell the E-510 in a month when you've realise you haven't used the E-510 in a while. Not only that, you want more lenses for the 30D. :p

Probably, but i'll still reccoment the Oly E-510 Twin lens kit as a good 'one-stop' package providing you don't want to go long / wide then it offers tremendous value for money.
