Good effort LB. The noise is your biggest problem with the fly shots, but it's not easy. :)

Nice start Ladybird, like CT says your noise is quite bad you need flash and a lower iso setting. you could run these shots through neat image or Noiseware community software which is freeware and pretty good you can get it here. http://www.imagenomic.com/download.aspx
I like your dancing fuchsia shot best :)

Very good efforts..... I don't know what ISO you were using, but your noise is coming from being under exposed [and Joe] (at least, it's not helping). The fly shots have a -1EV and the fuscia has -0.67EV. The D70 is very good usually without any compensation.... ;)

Great effort :)

To expand on what chuckles has said.
If you're using a higher ISO, you really need to nail the exposure in camera. If you use a higher ISO, and then do too much adjustments in your editing software afterwards, this can have quite a detrimental effect on noise.
I suffer from the same problem, in that I really struggle taking shots at higher ISO's because I sometimes have to do too much tweaking later on, which exaggerates the noise, so that's one area I need to work on personally :)

With the fly shots, I'd try lowering the ISO, and using a bit of flash to 'freeze' the action.
Nice way to start a thread though,......with a fly's bum :D

on the whole, I prefer macro shots without using flash....I love the colours in the fly especially his rear end! The fuschia is lovely and vibrant . Nice compositions BTW! ;)

Ladybird I liked your two flower shots but the noise is quite annoying so I fixed it for you with Neat Image hope you don't mind.
