Its white & half eaten, but what is it?

I found this sitting on our table outside. Looks like some spider has made a meal of it and left it trussed up.

Any one know what it is / was?

It's the type of bug that won't let go of a bit of wood even though its head is being eaten :)

As i have the full size pic at 300dpi I can see that the poor fellow was / is anchored and tied to the table with cobwebb. I keep looking out to see if the spider has returned for seconds, would like a pic of him if possible.

It's in fact a shield bug skin after the bug has shed it to grow.

your guess is as good as mine. I assumed it was the front with the larger hind legs at the rear. (hind leg, one has already been eaten)
