So for my college project I had to do a self portrait, which conveyed my personality or things I enjoy...

It was on special... 20 for £9.99, I'm just a poor student! :p It has a nice label, I thought it would be photogenic and suit the shot I was going for :)
Thanks for the comments. :)

I actually turned the fridge light off and used my flashgun to bounce the light around the fridge. :)

Neat idea, like it.

Which explains the strange pool of light in the middle of the image, and the odd shadows.
It's a cracking idea, and as-is it's a fantastic shot, but I think you could push it further.
Can you trigger the flash remotely? If so try situating it in a similar sort of place as the actual fridge light. At the moment the shadows & highlights are strangely out of place, and the lighting seems (vignetting aside) too even and dispersed.
As fun as the tinting is I also think the image could be considerably stronger if it was colour with a skewed cool white ballance.
At the moment all this says is that you like beer. Maybe. Why are you looking at me? Try looking at the beer. If it was a colour image with a cool cast it would not only imply that you like beer, but that you're one cool customer yourself.
As I say, I really like this image as it is, but I think it's a great idea that you haven't gotten the most out of.

The idea is fun, and the elements all work nicely, but I am not too sure about the colour treatment.

Thanks for the feedback Hoodi, I don't have a remote trigger for the flash unfortuneately.
I have versions where I'm looking at the beer too but I wasn't as happy with them as I was with this one. In this photo I was trying to get the "Ooooooh Beeeeer" expression going, also on the other side of the fridge is water, so conflicting items. I had initially had the idea to make a montage of 2 heads in there... one looking at the beer with that expression and one looking at the water with a confused expression.
I will process one in colour...I had originally an idea for a colour shot too.... will brb when finished.

Hey Colin..
I like the colour one best. Nicely imaginative... :)
Though for some strange reason, I find the whole thing makes me think you should be living in a Parochial House on Craggy Island. :D

I prefer the colour one too. How about trying the monotone ones in a more blue tone. Might convey a bit of the coldness of the fridge. It also might look pants but I'd be interested to see for comparison.

I tried the blue tones, it didn't even make it to save... I didn't think it worked at all. I thought that it would work too.
Great idea and well executed! I prefer the colour version to the strange green cast though, and can't help thinking it should be a colour version with a blue cast to better convey the cold?
