I would like to purchase some filters for my Fuji S5500 but being a beginner i'm unsure as to what to start with and where to look to get the best prices (don't want to spend loads) etc.

I believe that filters will screw directley onto my S5500 via the 55mm thread?? :Ponders:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Chris.

I have a 55mm polariser and also a UV filter which is permanently attached to the camera (S5100).

About £30 worth from Jessops.

BTW: Worth noting that you need a circular polriser for cameras with auto-focus. You can use a linear one for manual focus (and they're slightly cheaper too).

I would get a UV filter to fit directly to the camera.
Consider the cokin A system or an equivilent for effects filters.
The first filters I would recommend are:
Circular polariser
1 stop ND Grad
2 stop ND Grad
3 stop ND Grad

These will cover most of your needs.

Try SRBfilm (http://www.srbfilm.co.uk/index1.html), they have a good selection to choose form and at reasonable prices.
