Hello, firstly I am new here....And feel like I'm stepping into a big bad world...of not sure whats happening out there. lol.

I have recently started doing a Professional Photography Diploma, home study, and I am loving it....
but....:help:

My next assignment is photographing a restaurant. And this is just giving me nightmares thinking about it.
I have been reading model releases, and do I need a model release to take photgraphs in the restaurant [and outside] I'm not necessarily going to be selling these photo's they are just for course guidelines only, but the restaurant owners may want photographs for possible future commercial prospects.

Also...if I am putting my photographs online, how do I copywrite them??

Thanks in Advance!!!

WELCOME !!! -

Don't think you need a model release as long as its in the UK as it is a public area

If you are selling the shots you will need to obtain a model release

Just type "sample model release" in google for more info.

Ty Ross, but I'm not sure If I will be selling them or not. As its just for my course, it would depend how they turned out and what the restaurant owners wanted.....
This is why it is confusing....

Ross I didn't think you did need a model release if folks were in the public, even if the shot gets sold. Sure many stock photo agencies would only take your pic with a release, but don't think its the law in the UK

By no means am I an expert in this field but my understanding that if you take photographs in a public place you don't need a release

If it's inside a restaurant, then you would

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model_release (US biased)

and

Just imagine......The resturant owners want to use a shot for a brochure and in the shot is a guy having dinner with his mistress..think of the consequences!!

I know it doesn't answer you question, but I thought I would just throw it in:lol:
