My first pic post.

Ok guys & gals, be gentle this is the first pic I've posted.:

Pic was taken with a Nikon F55, then scanned onto PC, which is possibly why the image looks a bit grainy, only thing I've done to it is cropped it and added the border.

Comments & constructive criticism welcome, I'm new to photoshop and fairly new to photography as well.

I quite like it - I think you have caught your subject really well. On the downside, shame the bloke is in the background with the phone as its quite distracting being a large black blob. Could also do with having the dust marks from the scanner removed (I have been scanning in 400 odd negatives from my wedding and going through removing all the dust marks - how tedious?! Makes me really appreciate digital :D).

Not a bad snap of a young lady, but...

If you want honest crits, then I'd say:
- The wool of the jumper on her shoulder is in focus, but drops off towards the collar and face. Not much you can do about that in PS. You missed.
- Her face is a shade too dark and some of the detail of ther hair surrounding her face is gone as a result. Some of this you'll be able to compensate for in PS.
- I'd lose the bloke's phone (clone it out), the dark splodge is too distracting.

Thanks for the comments guys, I do appreciate it, all helps me take a better photo in the long run.

You're right about the dust marks and the phone, I'll try and clone them out tonight, and possibly have a play with the detail on her hair, if I can figure out how to drive photoshop!
