A) It could have been taken in the 1950's
or
B) Like some prat with a digital camera desaturated and blurred it a bit and stuck a load of fake noise over it?

Answers on the back of a ten pound note please.

Too much detail there, so it's B for me.

EDIT: Just had a look at the exif info, it's nice to see not everyone bows to Nikon or Canon only ;)

Give it a bit of vignetting to finish it off I reckon ;)

Quite a good conversion that. Bit of vignetting and more colour toning would push it a bit further

Mmm Vignette  Good idea.

Too much? Not enough? I'm never quite sure.

I think it looks pretty genuine in the editing you have done, the curbs look very modern to me for some reason. I'll be the first to admit I dont have that much knowledge as to what curbs looked like in the 50's but they look out of place in the photo to me.

I would also agree that the first car looks more authentic than the last because the last is a tad too sharp.

You lot have some funny ideas about what 50's gear can produce:lol:

I have gear from that period which produces lovely sharp images. Admittedly emulsions weren't as good back then, but I have period negatives which, also, are pretty sharp (and low on the ol' grain!).

Still, the content looks pretty good to me!

I have to agree, I don't think there would have been any kerbs. Perhaps a few straw bales instead.

I think youve done a fab job,
Only minor citicism jumping out for me is that the whites are a little too ... well ... white.

Like the pic but TBH it'll never look like a '50s pic while it's got those kerbs and white lines on the track !
(to be really picky the tarmac is very wrong and the surroundings are questionable)

Still a pleasant pic.

Thanks, TBH I wasn't really to concerned about the subject, it was the PP I was trying to get right. There is a lot of cloning to do on most of my shots to get the subject looking right, I can clone out the kerbs, kill switch and extinguisher cable toggles and the endless stickers once I've got the feel right. I kind of like to leave something in though, like the anachronistic detail in a Sam Peckinpah movie. ;)

Hoodi, I know what you mean. I've been looking at vintage picture galleries and a lot of the images are every bit as sharp as today.

You did a good job..but it does look like a modern photo. The last edit looks to be alot better and more of a 50's feel to it.

Agreed about the curbs and white lines, not much you can do about it..unless your very good at PS and able to clone them out and stick a few straw bales near the side of the track.
