View Full Version : Bit of rally action

Took a few photos at the Rally at Driffield (East Yorks) on sunday.
TBH the rally was a bit boring - on the old airfield, with no real offroad sections. So it was difficult to find any gnarly sections.

Anyway, I'm no rallying expert but here's a few shots from the morning...

Sideways action (my favourite of the set I think)

Can't post pictures from a rally without a scooby pic

...or an old Escort

This guy was obviously enjoying himself !

This driver looks to be dressed a bit too casual to be hurtling around in a 6R4 !

Number 1 is fantastic - you can just feel the motion, yet you've managed to get the driver & co-driver sharp.

Some nostaligia there too - Lotus Sunbeam, Mk1 Escort & the Chevette - and the 6R4 is just a beast.

Nice set, I think the first would be my favourite of the batch too.

Can't believe there's only been two comments on these  Like the others the first stands out for me but they're all sharp and slightly different angles from the usual rally shots, great work :)

Yeah they are a really good set and really should have more than 3 comments!

Thanks for the comments guys.
No worries that there aren't any more comments :). I sometimes look at other peoples' pics and if they're particularly bad or good then its easy to comment, but I know its difficult to comment if...well...there's nowt much to say.

Cheers Dod - I did try to get some different angles, or at least create some that looked different through cropping the pic in different ways. For instance on the 1st one - it was a grab shot as the car started to spin and I actually caught it with the car plum in the middle of the frame. There was nothing of interest on the right of the pic so I thought I'd crop that out to *try* to emphasise the cars' slide with the dust etc from the left. It worked pretty well, but I'd still have liked to get the nose of the car sharp :|.

Anyway, I'm hoping to get to the WRC in Wales later this year, so it was good practise to take these few shots beforehand.

Cheers,
Rich :)

I do like the Chevette, I used to navigate in one of those in the 80s. Thanks for showing us

I can't add anything more to what has been said already, but I will post this as the pics deserve more replies than already added.
