Third trip for me to yea-old wild west time zone that is Dungeness, theirs a fascinating feel to the place always, whatever the light and weather, your bound to be intrigued by your surroundings ... and, by the looks of everyones pictures it will inspire you artistically and photographically as well.

For me, on my third visit, I wanted to see if I could improve any of my earlier shots and also try and force my normal type of compositions and find the more unusual ones.
I can't say I manged either of those things fully, if at all. ... being the host on the day and trying to make sure I chatted to everyone and all got to shoot what they wanted etc, I didn't quite concentrate as I should have (In other words, be hedonistic and totally absorbed by my own togging, lol) ... most of us like to work alone eh.

I made lost of mistakes; Like, bracketing 3 exposures only one stop apart and then finding two stops would have been far more useful ...so that in turn has given me noise in the dark areas of all my high contrast shots, and badly graduated skys ...which the HDRing has now made obvious.

Like this one... and the third one.

1. http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/optiflow/firstrays.jpg

This is a re-shoot shot which is a definite improvement on the last...

I've experimented with some new and old processing ideas below, just to learn and for fun, and because I got bored from cleaning loads of sensor dirt from my skies, doh.... hope you like them.

I've called this one Tina. ..no argements please...although they are quite good at rugby.

This is a re-shoot one, unfortunatly the boat has lost its tall mast since my last shot six months ago...which does reduce the impact of scale I think.

Called this, NetLoss. ...which I thought was quite clever for me. :D

Hoodi desperately trying to find good use of his last frame before we leave... what was he thinking. LOL.

If you look out of the yea old wild west you can see the twenty first century in a sort of time zone mist...

1st 4 are very nice adam!

Not sure about the diffuse glow type thing in the last ones. I'm not saying it doesn't work.........I'm just a bit hung-over this morning and I keep rubbing my eyes lol!

Great set of pics there FB, nd I especially like the caption you have with the last one... very funny - I chuckled out loud when I read that.

The first is a corker - I'd like it even more if additional contrast was applied to make it jump out more maybe - but that's just my very subjective opinion.

Class stuff sir.

:agree: Excellent set of shots - 1st & 4th for me though - wish the foreground thing in the 4th was a bit more maritime (is it a cushion?) but I really like the processing & composition

I'm not keen on the diffused glow/soft focus look of the last shots either though, I have to scroll past them because they make my eyes feel weird (I am tired though & my vision is already a bit blurry )

Great shots overall

Thanks for showing that, I was wondering.

Ok ..How many have you stolen!! ... the bills in the post! :bat:

Glad you like em. ;)

.. thanks all, Excuse the diffused shots, I got bored trying to sort out sensor dirt/splodges all over my nice skys...so I opted to do some mundane shots fancy instead ;) ... I thought number five kinda looked water colourish :) ...and it also makes a messy ground disappear somewhat doesn't it. :D

My faves are the first three BTW... I especially like the grassy shot, which looks better on its own if you get me.

I have done many more versions of the first, some with more contrast and/or darkness

Let me know which you like please.
1a. The first with slightly lowered overall curves.

1b. Is another HDR nearer the original raw exposures, not forced like the first, all because my 1 stop choices where not spread enough for the very dark subject...at least, that's where I'm assuming the problems arises.

PS. Mike, the cushion, is a full Cement bag... with the bag bit all rotted away...every thing turning to stone over time etc, was part of its appeal :)

Thanks John, glad you like my experiments. :gag: ;) ..had little choice but to just do my favorite few and leave all the others skies for another day ... or week.

I get it now, did wonder why there may be a cushion

... :D Yeah, does look that way. I tried to think of a concrete cushion title to do with boats for that one ...Nope, no chance. lol.
I tell you, by the look of the bleak place, if its not tied down or weighs at least a hundred weight it wouldn't be lying about for long ... Or, at the least, it would be passing through briefly.

I really like the grassy shot too, Adam - I'm just jealous that it's better than a very similar shot I took :p

Really well taken and well processed!

 ..hey, Just think, wait a few years and you'll look as weather beaten as me. :( ;)

Spencer and Hoodi, I hope you realise you've ruined my thread ...every one will think I had more than enough replies for one person.

Boohoo. ;)

Thanks John  ...glad you think the processing good.
I kinda feel like I've lost touch with any proper fixed methods, (if there is such a thing) every pictures subject to a random fiddle until I'm happy ... in truth ... I wish I knew the what, and why, and what's best, rather than just playing with the various controls.
