about these, I've ummed and arrrred about posting these because I'm not sure whether they're good or not so I've taken the plunge, because I know you good people will tell me YAY or NAY:D. They were taken at Leeds Castle in Kent, handheld, just before it tipped down!! C&C please :)

They look pretty darned good to me
exposure, composition, procesiing (if there was any) all spot on
so that'll be a YAY  from me
and i'll second that, nice and crisp..
1st shot doesnt feel right and Im not sure why.
I feel there should be more sky, or more lake, or beter still... a different angle to the building than just face on.
Also the bright clouds to the left of the building really drag my eye in that direction as its the brightest part of the picture.
I like the comp of the 2nd shot much better, has a nice flow and the angle of the building/waters edge leads me in to the pic nicely.
Lovely reflections on the water too. :)

First class love em..especially #1:clap:
no 1 looks a bit flat to me - it's the light - no 2 is very good.

I like 'em both and I just know if I'd processed them the H word would have been used!
Shows what you can do without that!!
Very nice both!
I like the composition and the exposure of the castle in No1 but there's something odd going on with the clouds on the left, just above the tree line. Not sure if it's a bit of over exposure or something that's happened in processing
I'm loving no2 - spot on IMO :)

On first viewing I thougt number 1 was the better of the two pictures, I liked the dark clouds, they look ominous. However number 2 improves every time I look at it, it draws me in to the scene much more than number 1 does, which starts to look a little flat in comparison.
Thats my 2p, and that said I'd be happy to have taken either of them. :)
For colour, texture and the moody sky I prefer #1, but compositionally I prefer #2 - both cracking shots though!
I really like the first one but I find the bits of blue sky very distracting. I had a quick play and the image looks very good in mono but I also did this conversion where just the sky was converted. :D I know it's not great but it was done to emphasise the point that the sky could be made more dramatic.

Thanks guys and gals for your comments. I just thought that they were a bit 'flat' - not enough interest but I'm encouraged by your replies. Liberalis - that really jumps out at you - much punchier, although the greens look a bit lively on my monitor ;)
and Hacker, I like your edit as well, the sky looks very moody :)
I did process the first one, that's probably why the clouds look a bit bright - went overboard a tad! :) Didn't do much to the second one though - just a sharpen.
But thanks once again for your thoughts.:D
