Had a day to myself on Saturday so thought I would go for a walk through London. Pretty new to photography and thought it would give me plenty of opportunities! Overall took approx 350 shots of various bits and bobs, got a fair few I like. Tried my best not to end up just taking 'holiday' style snaps. Anyways - here are a few of them, any C&C would be greatly appreciated:

#1 - Westminster Abbey

#2 - Big Ben

#3 - London Eye

#6 - Another building that caught my eye just before St Pauls

#7 - St Pauls Cathedral

#8 - Statues

#9 - Southwark Cathedral

#10 - Tower Bridge

All taken with my D40 and the 18-55mm kit lens.

Others from the day, along with larger versions of these, can be found at my Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/chrislegg/sets/72157602143680295/) page.

I realise I should have narrowed it down more for proper critique, but struggled to pick which ones to ask about!

Thanks!

You might be 'new to photography' but you have certainly got an eye for a shot!

Great series with a lot of good compositions. 5, 8 and 9 don't do much for me but I know 5 will be liked by a lot of people - just me not liking buildings at funny angles!

#2 has to be my pick as it made me smile :)

:agree: The 2nd shot for me & I really like the lighting in the graffiti shot.
Very nicely done & a very promising set of pics

Number six just needs the verticals sorting, but number seven is great - nice one.

Cheers guys. Just got my camera for my birthday at the end of last month so was my first real chance to go out with it - had a great day although my legs were aching at the end of it! Loving my D40 though.

One more pic I quite liked from a "Don't see that every day" point of view was:

Lovely set Foggy, number 2 is a great pic :) and I like the graffiti because of the colours and shapes of the writing.

You might be 'new to photography' but you have certainly got an eye for a shot!Absolutely.

#1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 8 are all good compositions. They look like you've really taken the time to consider the angles. #7 is a bit more conventional ("touristy") but very well executed indeed.

#4 is interesting graffiti but somewhat less interesting as a photo (in my opinion). #9 is another good composition but it needs some processing to do it justice because the lighting is so poor. #10 is a decent idea but I don't think you've quite nailed it here.

Great set. Thanks for sharing.

As said before you certainly have an eye for an interesting shot. Every picture draws me in, very good focal point & nice use of angles.

Keep it up :)
