Has anyone ever had to make a warranty claim from Canon on something they bought from Onestop Digital? I ask as they do not include a printed receipt, so does a print out of the web page suffice?

Not that I need to, but am just interested in what I would need to do.

Michael.

Canon UK won't honour the guarantee on a product bought overseas. If you intend buying something from one stop you'd need to either send it back to them if you had a problem or purchase a mack guarantee yourself. It's up to you to decide if you are saving enough to make it worth while taking the chance.

I was under the impression that Canon lens warranties were world-wide?

Me too.

And I have never heard anything about Canon having the same issue with imports that Sigma do?

Yes Canon will fix it, but you'll have to send it back to Canon in the country of purchase, Canon UK will ask for proof of purchase.

From the Canon website warranty info "service free of charge may be obtained only against presentation of this warranty card together with the original invoice/cash ticket issued to the customer by the retailer, "

As I said above if you think you're making enough of a saving then it's worth the risk. I bought my 300D from the U.S. saving quite a bit at the time and never had a problem with it, I win there :)
