View Full Version : POTY 2007 - Round 10 - Autumn
Welcome to Round 10 of the TP : Photographer of the Year 2007.

Please use this thread to discuss the competition, and specifically the current round, and your interpretation of it. Also feel free to discuss ideas and thoughts etc. :) While there is an anonymous nature to the submissions and voting, there's no need to be secretive about ideas and the like. While we'd all like to win :D...the competition is for all of us to help improve our photography :)
The theme this month is "Autumn". Decide what the theme means to you, and portray it in a shot (Or take a shot and shoehorn it into the theme :D)
The cut off for submissions to be received is 23:59 on the 31st October 2007
The winner of this round will receive an a4 or a3 sized print of their winning shot. (Winners choice)
Please email your correctly sized entries, with your forum username in the subject or body of the email, to competition@talkphotography.co.uk
All entrants will get an email back confirming their entry. So if its nearing the end of the month, and you havent had a reply, use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the forum to check.
Have fun shooting, and remember, it's all aimed at getting us thinking about our photography more, and hopefully improving our skills, but more importantly, it's about having fun doing what we enjoy doing, and thats taking and sharing pictures.
So get your thinking caps on ladies and gentlemen, and go take lots of lovely photos!

YES! Loving this.... And I'm going somewhere that if I don't get a decent pic from that I should give my kit away.

*Bump* only a few days left and it's a gorgeous day! :) well, it is here anyway!
Funnily enough LP I've been "doing" my shot today :) I always seem to end up leaving it till the last minute :shrug:

Ner! ner! I put mine in 2 days ago.
You'd think it would be easy getting an Autumn shot wouldn't you? Not around here it ain't when I haven't got anyone to watch my back in the lonely woods :suspect: ( my man's away again :()
I got lucky though and found a spot around the corner from my dentist, as I've had to go there 3 time in the last month I've had plenty of time to get my shot in more ways than one!
Entry now in but I found this a hard one.... :shrug:

Got mine in last week.... Can you imagine if we had had a week of miserable weather.. I bet most entree's will be using the glorious sun we have been having. ( SUN !! UK !! ) Nah.... ;o)

Yes you're right.
I found it difficult to vote this month. Nothing seemed to jump out much above the rest.

If anyone has seen an entry before on here, could you please send us a little note (It will be anonymous, don't worry).
Just head to the thread where the image is, and hit the RTM button underneath the post (the little red triangle), and jot a short explanation down about it being a poty entry, so we can act.
If I'm honest, I don't think anyone is deliberately trying to circumvent any rules, we're not like that here. I think it's simply a case of not realising we have this rule in place.
We also understand that it's not really in the spirit of the competition. The idea of the POTY comp is to get everyone's creative juices flowing and urge them on to take more photos....and take a shot specifically for the comp (although we don't enforce that as a rule, because we're nice like that :))

I think they have been removed. seems to be a couple missing numbers now. ;)
Yup.
We've had to remove two entries due to them being shown on the forums before (quite recently too, unfortunately).
We don't normally like doing this (infact we have only ever done it once before), but we have to be fair to all entrants, and stick by the rules accordingly.

That's a shame, but I suppose rules are rules!
Just a suggestion, but how about just adding a small note to your opening post for the comp.There's no excuse then, as not everyone (myself included sometimes I must admit) clicks to read the rules.
Anyway, I must admit that I found this one much harder than I thought it would be. At first I thought it would be easy finding the photogenic colours, and how wrong i was. Although it did get me thinking about it a lot more, and rather than just snapping away I had an exact idea of what I wanted to achieve!!
How come I always seem to take the ideal picture the month AFTER the competition.....
I went to Winkworth Arboretum near Guildford today and took some stunning Autumn shots.
Every month is the same.... :annoyed:

nope, I went out at the weekend and got some lovely autumnal trees, couldn't find any last week!!! :lol:
