Is there someway to get the gallery import applets to preserve EXIF data when importing pictures?

Seems to be stripped out.

the gallery is a little savage with images, you should try to get the pictures down to 600x and under the 160kb before uploading or they are heavily compressed

I'm sure I do already and it still strips them... I'll have a play and see what happens.

I am no gallery expert and personally don’t care about preserving the EXIF data in web images, if someone wants to know they can ask and if I want to know I will ask, however I can understand your position.

I have no experience with this but if you get your images to within the gallery limits so that it does not compress the photo at all (check the confirmation box on upload) then I don’t understand why it would strip out any info that is there.

The only other thing that I can think of providing Gallery supports EXIF (which I am sure it does) is that maybe using the upload script instead of the Gallery upload may be affecting it? Are you using the upload from within Gallery or the available upload script?
