Ever on the hunt for something to experiment with HDR on, I thought, why not try a shot of the place where I probably spend way too much time

So, in a cunning and subtle attempt to show it, I thought it would be interesting to see what other peoples PC / Mac / workstation / home-entertainment-hub set-up looks like :D

Take a snap, PP it if you like, and post it in here!

Here's mine

:( Mines all packed up. Working off me lap at the moment. When I get to Canada I'll have my own office and Ill be building it all myself :). Will post pictures :).

But have to say, those both look like interesting set-ups. One nice and tidy and one the complete opposite :).

The G5 is hooked up to it for viewing avi's mainly, until the xbox360 can support divx/xvid etc

It's great with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse though, but I have tried and failed to get a 1080 resolution over VGA from the Mac.

I have tried two powerstrip type applications but neither have worked so I'm using 800x600 which still looks great

I'm amazed at how many of you have more than one screen. Just curious, but why is that ?

For me its because I write software for a living. I generally have one window for coding and the other for viewing the results. At the moment I am not actually using them as I have moved across to using my Macbook Pro and the machine they are attached to is just used to play music whilst I wait for the funds to get a Mac Pro.

For one I normally have a good few windows open, so by increasing the desktop over 2x 20" panels I can run a 3200x2400 pixel display and don't have to keep flicking between applications

Marcel
03-10-2007, 18:07
I paid £65 for it I think. Jimmy_Lemon is right, it looks like that one, but mine is actually the Jerker (They do a big modular version, but this isn't it).
It looks like theyve upgraded it to include a cable tidy.
Mines the 1200mm version I think. Best desk I've ever owned.....Just the right height, spacious and pretty :D (Only problem is, it's not impervious to a chocolate covered childs fingerprint or 10)

2x24" Dells give me 3840x1200 which is nice and large.

Xbox 360 on 1, OSX on the other.
Eve-Online(Crossover) on 1, OSX on the other.
Aperture Controls, thumbnails and metadata on 1, Aperture Full Screen Preview on the other.
Email, WinXP(parallels), MSN on 1, 4 or 5 Firefox tabs displaying various forums on the other.

As for my 3rd Display, which is my 24" iMac, I use that for Multimedia playback, whilst, I can keep working/playing on my main screens.

I feel for you pobs, I really do. My wife tried to do the same. Luckily I stopped smoking, so that wasn't a problem, but I too lost my spare room to a child :( and I ended up a refugee in the corner of my own bedroom.

I can't stand having a messy desk - if it gets messy (which it does) I have to stop work and tidy everything up. My office and desk are my sanctuary, it's the one place thats mine and mine alone.

I do agree with this, though in my case I have so much gear both on and around my workstation, that depending on what I am doing at the time, it's difficult for it not to become cluttered. I do try to keep things organised as much as possible though.

People like the Apple keyboard because they look good, are small, and are easy to type on. That keyboard is ugly, big, and doesn't look great to type on. So i doubt many Apple keyboard fans will like it! Gadget collectors might though!

I do agree with this, though in my case I have so much gear both on and around my workstation, that depending on what I am doing at the time, it's difficult for it not to become cluttered. I do try to keep things organised as much as possible though.

Here's my entire main work area, sorry about the sun!!!:
