I've given you a break but I'm not through with lake and mountain shots yet :)

Peyto Lake is one of the 'must sees' and has a viewing platform high above it.

Other end

Stitched Panorama which has joined nicely but destroyed any sense of scale.

The viewing platform after a coach load of Japanese tourists had left!

After the crush of the Peyto Lake viewing platform we resumed our journey then stopped again at a parking area with a path down between the trees. At the end was a very nice lake.... and no other tourists :D
This is a 12 picture 360+ degree panorama from the waters edge. The original is 22,000 x 3,700 pixels and is fun to scroll around... almost like being back there.
You can spot Jill at both ends of the picture.

And this is the middle section a bit larger. I set an average exposure and shoot on manual so there is nothing to be done about over bright sky areas.

#6 is excellent and my favourite, only spoiled slightly by the blown sky on the left, but i can live with it :-)

Excellent shots of the "wolf" lake as well. It's difficult to capture it all from that viewing platform though, expecially when a coach load of japanese or koreans arrive !

The glacial lakes are amazing! I wish I'd had more of a chance to take photos - I took my tripod, but didn't do much shooting :(.

Great photos - I know it destroys scale, but the stitched panorama is amazing!

There's some really great walks in that area - perhaps I should dig out some photos that I managed to take... :p

Suppose I could have cropped it off or cloned over it :)

It was a relatively quiet time of year when we were there. Dread to think what it must be like when it is busy. The coach park was huge and only had a couple of coaches in it.
I don't remember any signs with a name for the second lake so I'll take your word for it. Thanks.

Great shots Rob. Stitched shots are magnificent. Must have been a lovely crisp day to get the depth of colour. I have just booked to go in March. The last time we went to Jasper on the Icefields parkway the snow was thick and we saw next to nothing. I have some decent shots from a previous trip though.....Ian

The last time we went to Jasper on the Icefields parkway

Kept thinking something was wrong

Changed the thread title but the previous replies still repeat my error with the name.

Not sure what the second lake is called, but Peyto lake is sometimes called "wolf lake" as it's shaped like a wolf ;-)

Great shots - visited there myself on Honeymoon in June when pretty much the whole mountain range was still snow-covered.

The Rockies really are fantastic, I'd recommend them to anyone

Bit more of a productive holiday then scotland then?

I think you may have just chosen my holiday destination for next year!

I should say so! The Icefields Parkway is a stunning bit of road. You end up driving past spectacular scenes just because something even bigger is just ahead.

Think we only had 2 rainy days and they were not total wash outs.

Just coming up to halfway through the holiday with these so plenty more to come yet!

Great stuff Robert. Sorry I haven't been commenting more but busy at mo and only enjoying a surf through RSS feed when I have time. Spotting your pics though!

There IS actually. Bracket your shots like you would any normal picture and automate stitch on all versions, then blend.

Just been looking at a post by FFO in this section where different filters were used in a pano shot and still combined well. I'll just nip back and try it again :(

Or maybe not. Still something new learned every day....

edit hmmm wonder how bad the RAWs are......

edit2. blown!

So many lovely shots Robert!
The views speak for themselves but the composition, exposure and processing are a work of art.
