Great set, I love the 3rd one except the sky doesnt seem very "strong"...

agreed
odd thing ***
the reflected sky seems to have some cloud?!?
did you use a polorizer?

Beautiful scenes but the processing looks a little odd to me. Bit too much contrast and possibly saturation too.

Hi

Thanks for the feedback/comments

All shots were taken with polariser, to differing degrees.

Regarding PP images have been through ACR4.1 Raw convertor & have added sharpness, nothing else - maybe they need a few tweaks in RAW ?

Taken onboard the feedback & re-edited shot 3.

As Robert mentioned I've reduced contrast - I've also reduced exposure slightly, hopefully not too much !!

1st image = original

2nd image = re-edited

Definitely better. They had a point and shoot camera look to them (only talking about the processing here!) - aggressive sharpening and contrast/saturation type look.

i like them and i am wondering

1. when people take reflection, where the land stops and the relfection starts always seems to be in the middle. Is this the best way to shoot reflections.

or do you tend to use the thirds rule.

I try to get the mirror line nearer a third if I can but sometimes the scene won't let you so you have to go with symmetry.

To be honest rule of thirds etc isn't something I'm consciously thinking about (I know, bad person)

Normally I'm looking more at the foreground elements & the other "details" I want in the shot. Sometimes this works pretty well, other times it doesn't balance quite right.

The best idea is to take lots of shots with different composition/exposure etc - I always bracket my shots too. During this trip I filled 2 x 2GB SD cards (RAW files) & have decided to keep 13 shots !!

This ones my favourite shot  due to composition, colours, sky, contrast etc
Pity about the horizon sloping to the left.

Thanks for the "heads-up" on the horizon, missed it completely - corrected it now
