View Full Version : About time I said hello :)
Yet another AVF refugee here.
Think I need to ask a question of the admin here first  :stir:
Just suppose someone maybe even a mod here was to post a link to some relevant information on another site that was of interest to people reading the thread..... but just happened to be on a site that was also a forum and so could be considered a rival?
would a :nunu: be used?
If the poster thought you were :nut: and suggested you :flipoff: what action would you take?
Quality icons btw

Welcome :)
Let me give you an outsiders take on it.
I am a Mod on another photography forum.
I share information across both sites because I'm eager to learn and share.
I don't deliberately or knowingly steal information from either site.
If the truth be known, I spend more time here than I do on the site I moderate (with 40 odd members there isn't much to moderate anyway  )
I tend to re-write information I think peeps would find interesting but don't link directly to or from either site. With the best will in the world, regardless of how honourable peoples' intentions are, someone somewhere would treat it with suspicion.
Now if the Admin at the other site reads this, I will be summoned to the Tower and hung drawn and quartered and my head stuck on a spike over Tower Bridge.
Thanks. My post was a bit of an AVForums photo section insiders joke. Think a few more of them will be heading this way.
I have already has a couple of PM's here with EosD
Hi Robert, welcome
Your questions are easy to answer..
Just suppose someone maybe even a mod here was to post a link to some relevant information on another site that was of interest to people reading the thread..... but just happened to be on a site that was also a forum and so could be considered a rival?

Providing the link was with the best interest of our members in mind and not posted to benefit the other site per say than we don’t mind. We understand the internet is a big place with lots of good information available at many sites. We would also be very naive if we believed that the members here don’t frequent other sites as well ;) It’s a free world so people come and go as they feel, hopefully they like what we have here and will come back.
If the poster thought you were :nut: and suggested you :flipoff: what action would you take?
Irrespective of whom you are or who you direct it at (members, staff or admin), if we feel it is meant and not used in good humour and with a sense of fun then you will be dealt with accordingly.
Quality icons btw
Thanks :)
Be good and enjoy the forums :thumb:

Meaning I know your attitude is more sensible here......

:) yes i can see how it reads now. Not me I was referring to though. I'll be good promise
Sorted my avatar out - It is a 220mm 'Grolsch' pinhole lens. Image quality was a little disappointing but getting the 'lens' was OK.
Nice first post on this thread RobertP - Made me chuckle :D
Very interesting use of icons.........I bet you were charades king in your youth.
The link wasn't to ricdiggle's Camera Sale was it ??? AVT ???

Is it that obvious I'm getting on a bit :confused-
The link reference has gone over my head. Is there some more interesting reading somewhere on the subject?
AVT... just remembered what that was... had a look but still don't get the reference

Hiya, did EosD let you know about the rule where you're supposed to donate a "pinhole lens" to existing members? :whistling
