thanks
noah
i quite like that, got something about it hasnt it..if they had made the pipe with the flick the other way it would work even better though i think
Definitely looks like 'waste' to me ;)
Good pic though :)
Very good picture in all regards.
It's a personal thing but I fail to see the appeal of monochrome in most of the images I see presented that way. Just a taste thing but maybe 5 out of a hundred i can see it was the right choice - mostly it looks like it was done because it can be. This is good but not one of my five ;)
thanks for the kind words chaps.

its a fair point, but for me i use monochrome when i feel the image as a composition is stronger than the colours, giving less to focus on making a stronger image in my opinion. doesnt always work though!!
It's a very nice shot Noah. I love the great feeling of depth you've captured, and you've got a good range of tones and textures in the dark and mid tones, which I think suits the B&W treatment. It's just a pity that the highlights are blown in the water and in a couple of places in the sky, and once they're blown to that degree, you can't get them back. A grad filter or combining two shots in Photoshop would have helped you cope with the luminence range in this shot.
I'd like to see this shot done again from scratch, I think it would be well worth the effort. :)
Is it lens distortion causing the slopey horizon?
it might be slighty slopey, ive had problems getting used to the d70 and getting straight horizons! but also it is a curved bay so that may be it.
i see what you mean about combining 2 pics, its only just out the front of my flat so i'll go take one again later in the week and see if i can get the exposures right. i cant afford grad filters yet as im after a nice tripod, but i'll deinately invest in the furture!
