View Full Version : Section for "Digital Manipulation" ?
How about a section to discuss Digital Manipulation ?
I rarely post shots without some tweaking in Photoshop & there is so much to learn about the product & discuss with others.
One example thread might be for members to share how they have achieved a certain shot......eg from this :-

I am not against the idea although I am worried about diluting the site and creating many quiet sections instead of fewer busy sections. We only have just over 300 members and a small amount of those are regulars.
If we were to create a new forum for this, which section would you like to see it in?
EDIT...Sorry Dave, in my rush to reply I forgot to mention that I like what you did to the photo :)
Sounds like a good idea. Great learning tool for us who aren't as good in the "shop" :) I'm always interested to see how people get from A to B.
Jewel.
I'd be keen to learn, an excellent example! just love what you done....whatever that was????

I'd be keen for a Photoshop forum too. Well, not Photoshop, but manipulation. I guess it would be next to the photo sharing sections.
Would be a good place to share some tips.
Matt
Like the idea.
Still don't like the changes to the photo Dave :coat:
(seen that one before at 'another place')
Are there resident 'photoshop' gurus here already or will it be a all confused together type thing
There are a few "skilled" users here but we can all learn something, even if its just a shortcut or an alternative way of creating something that we could already do. :)
nice idea!
not sure where it would sit though if we do it, as Steve says its another forum on a not very busy(yet) forum, its a collection of techniques we all use and could share?, or is it a general item? its not an easy one to find a home for

Don't see it matters too much where it is. Speaking as someone trying to use a 'not very busy yet' site I drop in look around to see where the activity is and take a quick look. It would need to be much more active before you could come here and just go to a favourite section.
Why can't things like this just go in the tutorials section?
Why can't things like this just go in the tutorials section?
The tutorial section is aimed more at "completed" walkthroughs to show and teach a specific skill or technique.
The proposed Manipulation section as I see it is to show a beginning and end and how you achieved it generating conversation along the way, or to ask how to achieve a certain effect/finish after trying to get somewhere yourself. Its a lot more discussion and demonstrate, rather than a step by step tutorial if you can see what I mean?
I think it would be a good idea. At the moment, we don't really have a forum suitable for post processing and manipulation questions. At the moment the most apt place really is the photo sharing forum.
I would like to see more people discuss their post processing and manipulation methods. Would also be good having somewhere to ask how to obtain a particular effect with software, or the best way to prepare a photo for printing etc.
