You guys have to be the most helpful bunch around ... so here's a new query.

I've been thinking about getting a decent tripod to replace the very cheap one I bought regretted almost straight away. But, I think I would have more use for a monopod right now for my sport. But what I'm thinking of doing is getting a monopod with a head which can be used on a tripod when I eventually get round to buying one. Any suggestions?

You don't need the same sort of head on a monopod as you do on a tripod. Fine adjustment comes from you moving about a bit :)

I have a simple manfrotto 234RC on mine which I use to switch to portrait and for the quick release. Angle etc. is just by moving around and leaning the monopod.

I'd agree. I don't have a head on my monopod, just a quick release plate.

ah... OK ... thanks for that.

So if I went for the manfrotto 234RC head, any suggestions as to which monopod to team it with ?
